The Hydro Technologies Hull Penetrator Replacement System (HPRS) allows for the wireless transfer of data AND power through many materials (including metals) without the need to drill holes for connectors or RF waveguides. To accomplish this, HPRS uses the modulation of a near field magnetic signal to form the basis of a robust digital communication technology. Along with this data signal, lower frequencies are used to magnetically couple power directly through many materials without compromising the structural integrity. To date, HPRS has been used through materials including: fiberglass, glass spheres, marine grade aluminum, stainless steel, and several Navy ship and submarine hull alloys including HY80 up to 3" thick. HPRS is currently in use on Navy submarine applications and is being evaluated for use in oil and gas applications.
